Equinox | Yoga Brunch Club

‘The science, the travel, the style, the music and more for the high-performance life.’

Last month I had a great time collaborating with Furthermore who are part of the Equinox gym family on a new video portrait series they've called #mysaturdaymorning.

The Furthermore team are based in New York and decided to fly over to the UK for a few days to shoot some wellness inspired projects for their online magazine with both myself and lifestyle photographer Phillip Suddick.

The magazine, which prides itself on catering for those with a 'high-performance lifestyle' set Phillip and I the enjoyable challenge of capturing Clem Balfour's Yoga Brunch Club in action one sunny Sunday down in Brixton, South London. The brunch club has seen huge success over the last couple of years and it's a trend that continues to grow and attract both beginner and more experienced yogis.

Nearly June already?

It's been such a busy start to the year and suddenly we're knocking on June's door, that went quick...

With it rolling towards wedding season i've been helping Phase Eight create some moody moving image for their new bridal collection, hopped on a plane to Madrid to DOP for Bombay Sapphire and produced a short poppy little product film for Debenhams.

The Butler Trust Awards

Every once in a while a project comes along where you know you can't say no, because the process of making it will be just too interesting!

In February I was asked to join The Butler Trust, a charity who awards 'extraordinary people who work in ordinary job roles', in making a short documentary about Bernadette Hare.

Bernadette is a prison officer at HMP Bullingdon and receives her award this year for 'combining outstanding skill and compassion towards both inmates and staff'. It was a joy to film 'Bernie' as we roamed around the prison and got a taste for daily prison life.

Wallpaper* Features Paper House Project

I'm very pleased to see a project I worked on earlier this year receive some industry attention in Wallpaper* Magazine today.

James Davies from architect and design studio Paper House Project has worked wonders on a derelict school building in Stoke Newington, North London, over the last couple of years and is finally reaping the rewards with some serious adoration.

James commissioned me to make a film that would capture the essence and character of the build but remain simplistic in nature. With the use of abstract crops and shots which bounce around each other along with the track, I feel we managed to do the space justice.

Drift Premieres on KaltBlut

Great to see Drift, a music video I directed with a good friend of mine premiere on Kaltblut Magazine today.

Drift is the result of music producer Russ Chimes teaming up and swapping melodies with Copenhagen based singer Iris Gold and it was very fun to make!

We spent a day down at the National Centre for Circus Arts which is based in Hoxton, London and asked aerial expert Augusts Dakteris to do his stuff again, and again, and again. Poor guy.

To see what went into making the video, check out the behind the scenes film made by Marcelo Vianna below.

Colombia

A couple of weeks ago I was back out in Colombia shooting a new project with New Zealand based speciality coffee company Flight Coffee. It was an unexpected trip and one brought about by my jaunt in the same area back in January.

I originally went out there with the intention to shoot some interesting people and places with the hope of coming back with at least one film for the portfolio. In the end I shot and cut three which was a bonus, including the fantastic and very original Ometepe Bilingual School story which you can see here.

After seeing my original personal project about Miguel at the El Fenix Community Wetmill, Flight Coffee kindly asked me to visit once more for a second round of filming to capture the wetmill in a little more detail for their upcoming campaign film.

There's no sign of things slowing down for Christmas just yet with another trip overseas planned, this time closer to home, for a 4 day shoot in Paris and the launch of two really exciting personal projects next month. The results of which to follow soon!

Morocco with Akasha Retreats

This week has seen me working on some gorgeous footage that I shot in Taghazout, Morocco with new wellness brand Akasha.

The founder, Amy Patsalides invited me to join her on Akashas very first yoga retreat which took place at the beautiful Mountain Riad, overlooking the Moroccan coastline.

During the 5 day shoot we found ourselves in valleys, up mountains, on beaches and surrounded by palm and argan oil trees, a fantastic trip that has produced some spectacular footage.
